Subject: Westy physic tale

Well, Volksies here's a Westy story to beat all Westy stories. I'm crusin' around here trying to get caught up on my spring gardening when I get a phone call at 9 am this morning. Voice is someone I recognise from another life some 10 years ago. Julie ? Yes, Julie and when I recognise her I think it's because I ran into her brother last week end while attending the funeral of my partners daughter. Wrong ! The reason I ran into her brother is due to Westfalia ! Every time I see one I try to make contact with the owner. Well, this time the other guy was chasing me ! I have a sign on the side of my Westy with my name for my business. He recognises me and is trying to get my attention. This guy was around 12 or 15 last time I saw him and now he's got a real estate business had in driving this '84 Westy, American model to boot, in Rouyn-Noranda! Check that place out on your maps. Well, that was weird enough no ? Not ! Wrong ! Julie and her husband are on their way back from Cape Hatterus and are in Gatineau, near Ottawa, about 60 km from me and they are Having WESTY problems. Whoa ! Now that was too much. Haven't see or heard from Julie and Eve for over ten years and all of a sudden they pop up with an '87 Westy, (my Westy's an '87) and they are nearby with problems. They have been driving it for the last umteen miles at 60 km/HR. It will not go any faster and the're looking for help. Her brother had given her my name and phone number. So I just spent the day on the phone with them trying to diagnose the problem. I could not go there as I'm still dealing with the aftermath of my daughter-in-law's death here and had to stick around the homestead. Fortunately I have a mechanic type friend that is about 10 minuets from where they are and think to send her there with the Westy for him to have a look. Well, I just got off the phone with her and they have not been able to find the problem. Engine runs fine while the van is parked in neutral but when in gear and driving it will not go over 60 km/HR ! Just sort of bogs down the're telling me. So after checking everything I can think of, we have all come to the conclusion that there is a transmission problem. In the morning they will take it to a Volkswagen transmission specialist to have him look at it. More news to come on this. But what a physic Westy phenomena. And one more piece of physic trivia to make the story even weirder. Her husband's name is Eve and my daughter-in-law who died was named Eve ! YIKES !

Cheers
