Last year my '85 Westy was converted from Freon to Freeze 12. How does that relate to the R12 vs R134 debate. Is Freeze 12 similar as R12? Anyway, at the time the mechanic said that the compressor was not up to par and that it would probably need replacing soon. It held up as well as it could through the summer last year since I didn't use it a whole lot. Well, it isn't doing anything this year, and I am taking a several week trip in July/August so I want to do something. When I get a new or rebuilt compressor, do I have to specify that I am using Freeze 12? What's the advice on replacing the compressor? TIA, Jim in Atlanta |
