Subject: Painting Pop-Top
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Greetings Everyone,

I just stripped my '85 Westy down for the paint shop the other day. It had a couple of minor dings, some seam rust and a moderate amount of rust rust forming along the seams at the top of the front wheel wells. Anyway, decided to have the body work done and go the full paint job route to get her looking like new, as long as I was at it. My question is, has anyone out there repainted the pop-top? Mine doesn't look all that bad, but with the new paint on the body, I thought I might try refurbishing the top as well. I'm going with the original Bronze/Metallic on the body, and my top is sort of a beige or tan color. If painting is a viable option, then I would appreciate any advice on proper prep, primer, and type of paint to use. The body and paint guy I have doing the work said he wasn't sure if it should be painted, that it might have some problems with cracking and peeling. Thanks for any and all input......`
