Lee, A bit of caution may be called for here. One such device was being made and marketed in Pennsylvania not far from where I live. Being in an area where mountains of salt are redistributed on the roads each winter, I certainly was interested in such a device. My interest waned when I read that the PA Attorney General was taking this manufacturer to task (and court) because his claims were unsubstantiated.

Thinking about it later, I reasoned that if such a scheme were effective, then every power plant in my experience which used sea water in its coolant system would have used it. All I can ever recall seeing were rather large consumable anodes mounted to their intake structures. Rich
