My '91 Syncro Westfalia has had a problem for three years that no VW mechanic has yet been able to figure out. It seems to occur only in warm or hot weather. after driving for a moderate to long time, sometimes when I pullup to a stop sign the engine dies and won't restart. Or I will have driven around town starting and stopping the engine numerous times, and and then all of a sudden after a stop, it won't start up again. After waiting 20-30 minutes it will almost always start again. It smells like it's flooded. Thre different mechanics have tried to replicate the problem without sucess, and nobody seems to know what's wrong. Mighty inconvenient to be stuck, especially when I'm out in some forsaken place in Mexico! Anyone have any ideas? -- Laurie Loeb lloeb@rof.net "You must be the change you wish to see in the world."
