> What are some signs and symptoms of bad fuel injectors? "Bad" means either delivering too much or too little fuel. If it's stuck open, the van will run rich like hell...black smoke out the exhaust, etc. If it's not opening at all, that cylinder won't fire. Try pulling them out, ground the ignition (you don't want a spark), eliminate other spark source (NO SMOKING!) and turn the ignition to "run". That should develop pressure in the fuel system. See if any of the injectors spray or leak. Bentley has the spec for maximum leakage per unit time. Then the injectors fire into a pan while someone cranks the car for a few seconds. You should get nice pulses with spray. -Karl -- Karl & Kristina Bloss - vanagon@makarov.com 1987 Westfalia Weekender "Bev" - 197K Miles http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw VW Shop List: http://www.enter.net/~bloss/vw/vwshops |
