Andrew Wrote: My driver's door (the right one) window has a problem which also afflicted my 75 Bay. When wound down it drops backward with a clunk against the back of the door. When driving it clunks backward every time I step on the gas, then moves back forward, ready to annoy me again. Anyone familiar with the problem and its cure? A block of rubber glued to the inside of the back of the door? --------------- Last week my driver's window suddenly jammed and quit working. I was looking at the "Clunk" issue that last night as I fixed the window crank on my 82. One screw holding the horizontal bar which the window rests on had come loose. In the process of removing the door panels and messing with the window, I noticed the same clunk. I have noticed it a few times while driving but have not attempted to fix it. Last night's examination revealed that the rubber backing on the vertical window track does not go down far enough in the back. When the window gets rolled down below the back edge of the the vertical track, it allows the window to rotate back, hence the clunk when it hits the door metal. I believe a rubber block or a piece of foam weather strip glued inside the door below the vertical window track would fix this. They even make it with adhesive already in place. I'll do it some day. I got new panel clips at the dealer today and re-installed the door paneling this eve, the window is fixed. Ken 82 westy |
