I have a van in my shop now that is an '85 with head troubles.  One head had
burnt an exhaust valve and so I sent both heads plus a spare head I had
sitting around the shop, to a local machine shop to be tested.  All three
heads came back as bad with cracks below the valve seat.  I could get the
customer some new AMC heads for $395 each, but they are really on a tight
budget that basically didn't have room for the new head thing.  Anyone have a
couple of known good 1.9l heads they would like to sell or swap?  I don't
care about pitting as much as the cracks.
