Subject: cold engine problem on 87 wolfsburg edition
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi list,

I have a problem that just started w/in the last few days. My 87 has a rebuilt engine w/ about 1800 miles on it. The oil and oil filter have been replaced at 350 miles, about 1000 miles, and at 1500 miles. It is a 2.1 automatic. I kept it below 55 mph for the first 1000 miles and now will only go 65mph tops on the freeway. When i start it up and begin to back up it is fine, but when i pull it out of the driveway and go, it bogs down a bit and then seems to kick in slowly but surely. It just seems to lack power for a bit. I never let the tank get below 1/4 of a tank so i don't think it is junk in the tank, and the injectors, fuel filter, and fuel lines are as new as the engine. I do not have the heat or a/c on during these times and outside air temp. is usually in the 60's or so. Any clues?

Thanks in advance,
