Rick, Once or twice in the last 13 years I had my sliding door handle go kaput. Each time I was able to fix it by re-tensioning the interior cable that runs from the handle area back to the rear latch. Either yours has lost sufficient tension or perhaps become dislodged or broken in two. Garrett Adams 83.5 Adventurewagen GL Stockton, California

I don't know what happened, all of a sudden I can't get the sliding door open on my 80 vanagon. The handle doesn't catch anything, just goes all the way down and that's that. Interior handle doesn't catch either. I pulled off the interior panel and fiddled around to no avail. Is this a common thing, and if so is there a obvious fix? Maybe 20 years of slamming the sliding door takes its toll. Thanks, Rick 80 Vana Banana Slug ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com |
