I have just replace my old and tired 2.1 in my 86 vanagon with a new rebuild from Boston Engine. Today, after double and triple checking all of the connections, water lines, etc. I tried to "fire" it up. Got good spark, and as long as I kept the ignition switch on, it acted like it would take off. However, whenever I released the ignition switch the engine would "lope" for a few turns, backfire, and stop running. Thought I would turn to the vast knowledge of the list and solicit your suggestions as to what I might be overlooking. Thanks in advance! Larry in Lincoln |
