Rocky Mountain Motorworks www.motorworks.com has the correct tools, but they are expensive. I think the pliers for grabbing the shims are the same for all diesels, but the valve depressor "hook" is unique to the diesel Vanagon and runs $60-70. Anyone got any suggestions as to where to get necessary tools, at a reasonable price i.e. not snap-on!, for adjusting valve clearance - I think there's one tool to depress the lifter and another to remove & replace shims...Also, any good sources for a 'variety' of shims... Anyone got the tools, no longer use them, and want to sell them? Steve |
