Hi volks,

Well the new front bearings ( inner and outer) are now installed)   I
did help
Larry ..........(well, a little-I looked a lot, asked a lot of questions
and got
just a little greasy)  also read  The Bentley out loud (which by the way
annoyed hubby to no end)  and I just got back from a little test drive before
he'll do the final peening.  Seems it supposed to be..... the Bentlley
says that little press washer needs to be a  little wiggly with just
finger pressure or screwdriver.   When we took it off Larry said it was
way too loose and that's what caused the excessive wearing of the
bearings to begin with. (We did both inner and outer) But....when we
tightened it like the Bentley says and then backed off to get some play
it once again seemed too loose, so....we tightened it again, while
spinning the wheel and then just backed it off a little.  I went with
Larry's experience rather than have it too loose again.  So he had me
drive it to see if I heard anything.  Seems OK except now I'm really
hearing a bunch of other little noises.  Don't know if they're normal or
not yet.  So tomorrow morning he's going with me to New Hampton and
we'll both listen.

So......now needing the wisdom of the collective.....what is your
experience with backing off this nut and having play?  Larry just said
it seems too loose if we leave it finger wiggly and it should feel snug,
though not tight as to cause resistance in the wheel.  It was REALLY
loose when we took it apart before fixing it.
