I think this is a very worthy endeavor. Certainly when traveling outside my home range, I would certainly take a fellow listee's recommendation over a stranger in the street. I would hope that whatever you publish would have more than just names and addresses, but perhaps a brief summary of how much experience listees have had with this vendor. And hopefully, you will include more than US -- I for one could use Canadian data!
