Subject: Is it Cool To Be Cooler?

In response to requests to post the following parts numbers, they are as follows:

Thermoswitch....made by "Wahler". On the part box there is a yellow stick which reads: "P.P.I. 321 959 481 085 SWITCH 114 1/22/98 4912. Then, below the stick is a white area on the box that reads: "Type 6017 85" The actual switch , itself, has the name "Wahler" on it and then the following info stamped into the brass part of the switch: "12V, 83 degrees -- 93 degrees and the number 9/7".

Thermostat....also made by "Wahler", and it's yellow stick says "P.P.I. BMW 11 53 1 812040C Thermostat 113 1/2/97 2785" And in the white area on the box the stamped number: 4235.71 D. Thermostat, itself, has the numbers "71 degrees" and "96 80".

While it is appears that the thermostat is a BMW part the thermoswitch may not be. Maybe someone who is able can double check the part numbers and tell what kind of vehicle these parts were originally designed for. I do not have that capability.

These parts were bought from a California Vanagon High Performance Rebuilder, who indicated that they recommend to their customers to make this change. It was additionally suggested that the thermoswitch and thermostat be used in conjunction with one another. Some of these part numbers may be "inhouse" and, so, you may have to do some cross checking.

Good luck and stay cool!
