Subject: Advise on gas tank gauge
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" ; format="flowed"

Hi all

The gas gauge in my van (1981) is not working. In fact when the tank is full the gauge indicate "full" but after a couple of kms it goes al the way down to "empty". This is pretty annoying because we have to mark the milage all the time to know when to fill up again. The mechanic said that the sensor is probably incorrectly installed (the tank has been replaced by the previous owner). I am thinking about having it fixed.

Is this something hard to do? Where is the sensor located on the tank? I don't want to pay a mechanic for a day of work just to fix that little thing. Any advice? François Vézina M.Sc.
