Subject: Re: Clutch master cyl replacement procedure? Some thoughts

I did this last January at 22deg f. Honestly, I can't outline the process step by step, as I was so cold, and so angry having to do this when being so cold, that I seem to have blocked it out.

Rest assured though, no special tools were necessary. The only risk is a further soaking of your carpet with hydraulic fluid. I do recall taking off the steering column plastic surround and doing some very tight work up underneath, but nothing that a good shade-tree mechanic shouldn't find pretty easy. No special sealants, no gimmicks. Try not to let the fluid reservoir go dry as it is shared with the braking system. When it goes dry you'll have to bleed two systems rather than one.

Good Luck.
