So the good news is that it looks as if I finally got rid of the air pockets
in my system. Have been driving it for a month after storing it for the
winter and finding NONE of that red light blinking stuff which has been
described by various listers previously here.
The bad news is that I have bad stuff coolant in there (86 Westy)! AAAArrgh.
It's been there since last summer.
Any advice? Dump the bad stuff and risk another air pocket, or keep the bad
stuff? I'm planning a long trip southwards this summer and I really don't
want that *&^%$ blinking red light again. It pestered me for several months
after I bought it last summer. It blinked even though the temperature needle
was right over the light itself and both tanks were full, then it continued
blinking as the needle rose higher and higher. It blinked when I finally
blew a pipe in some god-forsaken part of Nova Scotia far from home. It
blinked after we had repaired the pipe and filled those tanks again and
again. The only time it stopped blinking was, of course, each time I took it
to the garage here at home. Salim the garage owner, would just arch his very
bushy eyebrows and shake his head and send me on my way after checking that
everything was ok.
Oh well.
