Hi Karl I was just a your site and got to look at how you set up your dash. I noticed that you also run with a dual thermometer as I do. I have done this for quite a few of my vehicles and I enjoy it. I don't know what practical use it has, but I seem to feel like something is missing without it (like when the battery goes deat after a few years). I discovered a black, dual model on a trip to Radio Shack that happens to fit exactly over the portion of the instrument cluster between the idiot lights and the clock. A little velcro and some careful wire placement under the windshield seal and it looks like it always belonged there. I mounted the external sensor by running the wire under the front edge of the dash untol it got close to the windshield. From that point it goes under the edge of the seal until it reaches the top corner of the windshield, where it passes out of the door opening. I put the sensor on the front of the dripedge and found that eletrician's putty holds in nicely in place and keeps it from beating itself to death. Note that this is on a darker colored van so the putty blends right in. Also for the owners of earlier vanagons without the digital clock, the spacing in the middle is a little narrower and not as perfect a fit.
