I am planning to replace the incorrect and woefully inadequate tires on my '87 Westfalia with the correct tires. I have the alloy wheels that take a 205/70R14 tire, and I'm considering the Michelin MXT. I just visited my local Howard Tire/Wheel Works and was quoted $93/tire, plus all the installation costs (mounting/balancing/extended road hazard protection) and tax. Came to $505 total. Does $93 per tire sound reasonable? Is this my best tire option? I've read generally positive press on it in the archives and at the Vanagon.com site, but I can't seem to find this tire listed at either Tire Rack or even Michelin's website. The considerable experience of the listserve listees is appreciated. ...Dan |
