Matt, Your timing is superb! I just replaced my passenger PW motor and mechanism (it's all one unit) with one from Van-Again. These are OEM for European Caravelles (Vanagons), but instead of a cable drive, they use a screw jack mechanism, which is supposed to be more reliable. Also, the location of the motor moves from the lower door area to the upper area, just behind and below the stock door speaker. There are already mounting holes in the door for this item, as it's stock in other markets. The stock switch and harness are used for this motor, and plenty of wire is provided. This is a replacement kit for the stock item. This item goes for $140 from Van-Again. Caveats: The stock speaker will interfere with the motor housing in its new location. If you actually have a speaker located in the stock position in the door, you will need to mount the window motor with spacers so that it is set back a bit from the inner door surface to allow room for the speaker magnet. I used some rubber blocks I had lying around and it works great. Also, I notice that the power window is slightly slower than the stock setup; not a problem, just an observation. ...Dan Matt Bezark wrote: > hi, > > the passenger side power window regulator gave it up. i have an 89 syncro westy. > > the best price i've found so far is around $180, ouch. > > any other suggestions? > > matt. |
