My Chevy pickup has had a Frantz filter on it since about 1975. So far, so good. The engine has about 350000 miles on it and is next up for rebuild after I get the 1.9D finished for my van. One important thing to remember: the Frantz is a BYPASS filter. It is meant to supplement the stock filter, not replace it. Older cars had no oil filter of any kind. Many, like my truck, are designed with only bypass filtration capability. There is NO capability for full pressure oil filtration. Judging from the longevity of my engine (235 ci inline six for the curious), probably no need either.
