In regard to my story about losing the Spare Wheel bolt at 65mph..... I had been on a 4WD trip that day, and I can only imagine that somehow I must have compressed the spring for the clip itself. Because it didn't hold...... At 65mph, the tray actually went crashing down onto the road! It was at night, and the Isuzu Rodeo behind me that we had been 4WD'ing with said they saw loads of sparks as I began to swerve to get off the road! It made such a clatter that I thought my tailshaft had broken free for the first fraction of a second, until the brain kicked in and I realised that if that happened, we probably wouldn't have remained in the upright position. The small loop that the bolt fed through actually bent right back, and there's some substantial scratches under the tray itself. And yes, even during this, the tyre remained in it's tray. I'd hate to say what could have happened if it came loose and ran amok among the cars behind me.
