Howdy Just changed the rotors and pads on my '87 Synchro (worn down to the metal-I usually drive the OTHER vanagon and didn't notice how bad they were) and I have a question about the countersunk set screws on the rotor- I had to drill and tap both of them out and was told that thay don't really serve a purpose and can be left out. Seems to me they keep the rotor from chafing back and forth on the lugs- how critical ARE they? And what do i need to know to install a temp and oil gauge? are the mechanical or electrical better for temp?
