I found out through my searches for a hitch that U-Haul sells a hitch for the Vanagon. It's supposed to be $109 installed and your bumper mounts over the hitch. I think it has a 2000 or 1500 lb capacity. I would not drill through the bumper and trust it to withstand the continuous loads it would experience while pulling a trailer, no matter how small. -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com]On Behalf Of Carrington, Tom Sent: Friday, June 16, 2000 10:09 AM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: FW: Step bumper hitch

Would this be safe to pull a small trailer? Would the bumper be strong enough to hold. I have a 84 Vanagon with a original equipment bumper Thanks , Jeff. |
