Subject: Portland Oregon Repair Shops - Thanks for the input!
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Thanks to all of you who responded with recommendations. I'm passing them on to Iris Peters (my customer) who will no doubt make use of them on her arrival.

She needs her front air blower replaced - we discovered it was bad too close to her departure time for us to do the work here. It's a pretty big job and I would only want someone who's done it before tackling it for someone on the road. If it was just California it wouldn't be a problem 'til winter, but she's travelling with her eighty-year-old mother and they'll be in all kinds of weather conditions during a two-to-three month trip.

Thanks again.

The shops recommended so far:

"...Southwest of Portland, my mechanic is very good. They are in Newberg. The name of the company is Mountainside Import and the phone number is 503-537-4085"

"Heckmann & Theimann at 2327 SE Powell 503.233.4809 is generally considered to be the GL, or perhaps the Eurovan, of VW shops in Portland. [or...]

Steve's Personalized Imports at 7273 SE 92nd 503.771.6701, and they've always done great work and are patient and attentive to the details ..."
