I run the MXT's on my 88GL. I really like their performance. As I understand, the MXT was the tire that all vanagons had when delivered new. Whatever the case, the MXT was a relatively difficult tire to locate and get. I got mine from Discount Tire in Albuquerque and it took them several...maybe five....days to get them in. Apparently the 14" MXT is a fairly special tire and Michelin was a bit picky as to what they were going to be installed on.

I run mine at 45 psi. I could lower that a bit for a softer ride, but it affects the wear pattern. This tire has a very stout side wall that gives good road hazard protection. Best to keep them pumped up to keep that sidewall straight.

BTW, at the time I bought them, Michelin had a heck of a special freebee going on. For the original receipt, I received from them at no cost to me, a genuine Michelin Road Maintenance Kit. Came in a very nice hard, black plastic carrying case with the Michelin Name and logo on the front. Has roadside reflectors, wrenches, screw drivers, electric air pump (plugs into cigarette lighter hole) etc. Anything to help with changing a tire.

I'm happy.
