    Found the steering U-joint on my '87 Westy making a clicking sound
over
the past weekend.  Got under there yesterday and got it out.  Really
nice job
that is !  All kinds of road crap falling in the eyes !  Anyways now the

question is how to repair this little devil.  Local VW dealer tells me
it is
$195.00.  That's Canadian dollars my friends !!  So being an economical
kind
of repair guy I went looking for a repair kit like on a "Normal"
U-joint.
Well, no way so far.  Tried all the FLAPS and speciality shops and all
the VW
aftermarket sellers and no luck so far.  Anybody out there deal with
this
little gremlin yet ?  Tell me what you did please to avoid the VW
thieves.
Also noted that VW in it's infinite wisdom saw fit to install the
trunion in
the U-joint by peening over the lips on the end caps.  So changing the
trunion if on were to be located will be a PITA.  Oh well, one Vanagon
dilemma to sort out.  Wouldn't want to start watching too many episodes
of
Survivors !
