Bjorn,

It sounds like the high-pressure sensor might be the culprit. The L-board is the other, as you suggested. Check on vanagon.com under "problems"...there's a description of the dynamic oil pressure system and whether the switch should be open or closed at good pressure.

Also, it wouldn't hurt to install a real oil pressure gauge...the analog kind. That way you know for sure what's going on, especially on a new rebuild.
