Subject: Flashing temp light
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Okay, pardon me, I know there are probably enough threads about this to tie up an elephant, but. . . I am driving over the coast range yesterday with a pretty full load of gear, when the temp light starts flashing. Strange thing is that it happened after I began to descend into one to the many valleys into the coast range, not on the climb. The temp gauge never budged from dead center, yet the blinking idiot light is going like crazy. Okay, so I pull over and lo and behold, the water reservoir behind the license plate is empty! In goes one liter of fresh water. Start up Odell and everything is groovy for about another ten miles, then the light again, again on the descent!

We pull over, let it sit for a minute. I check the water level, no problem. Start it up and everything is fine. Hmmmm.

Again, ten miles on, the light, this time on a gentle descent, with no real stress on the motor. Okay, so I put it in Mexican overdrive, kill the motor, and start it back up. No light!

So, is this just a bubble from an unbled cooling system, a bad water pump, or a psychotic idiot light/ sender?
