I would agree with Ron on the fit of the Dansk mufflers. They fit like stock. I have installed many of these myself with minimum hassle (as already stated, don't expect everything to go together smoothly when the rest of the system and muffler straps are all worn out and rusty).

I also sell the S&S Header muffler for the Vanagon. This is $120 and bolts up with minimum hassle as well and has it's own tailpipe (you need to make a small strap to hang the muffler from the stock mounting point but that is the only difference).

I was not sure if I liked this muffler initially, because it is a little louder than stock. But I installed it on a customer's van about 4 months ago and since then I have put a few hundred miles on the van running errands (the customer told me to). The muffler has a deeper, throatier sound, but you get used to it and actually start to like it. The muffler is installed on a '86 Westie with automatic tranny and all I can say is that it does take off from the line better than my '91 Carat. Both vans have the stock exhaust header with my Carat having a new Dansk and the Westie a new S&S muffler. I would say the difference is quite noticeable (especially since the Westy is a good big heavier than my Carat). I am almost to the point of replacing the muffler on my Carat with the S&S one (I wouldn't hesitate except the muffler is only 6 months old).

Just FYI.
