This sounds like normal fan operation. When my temp guage starts to rise, the fan kicks in. This should prevent the van from beginning to overheat, at which point the red light in the temp gauge will start blinking furiously. If you still are not satisfied with fan's operation, I might suggest that the fan sensor switch(lower driver's side of radiator) is not properly functioning. I knew mine was bad because the fan came on at 3 a.m. after the van had been parked for 6 hours. My advice, your fan is fine, get a more powerful stereo:-)
