Subject: Got my ARB fridge/freezer
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

I just got my ARB 12v/110v Freezer/Fridge.

I ended up buying from Offroad-Accessories strictly on price. http://www.offroad-accessories.com/arb/freezer.html

Works pretty well. Really solidly built. Feels like an original metal Coleman cooler. Works well as a seat. Good finish everywhere. Nice and quiet while running; I don't expect any trouble sleeping through it.

Beverages are cold. Haven't tried keeping ice-cream in it yet.

Fits well right behind the passenger seat in the Westy, Carat and doublecab. My plan is to remove the brackets for the jumpseat in the Carat and to then fab a custom bracket/strap. (No, I'm not selling the seat or brackets) The ARB is so heavy, 40lbs or so empty, that it doesn't really need a bracket; new dads are just anal.

I'll be using this primarily as a cooler in the Carat, our babymobile. When camping, I'll transfer to the Westy and use as a freezer for ice and ice-cream.

Right now I'm plugging in to the cig lighter. Long term, I'm having a 12v socket put in behind the drivers seat in all three Vanagons.

I put a quick pic up on my Carat page. http://www.oz.net/~tyg/TyG/Carat.htm

Let me know if you have any questions.

Ty Graham
