All, Marshall, you "hit the nail right on the head" in my case. A few months back, this is exactly why I couldn't keep an "air pocket" out of my coolant tank. It was scaring the heck out of me plus driving me crazy! I took out the rear heater and the "Tee connections" too. Put in a splice (feed through) pipe and my "air pocket" went promptly away. This all happened right after me second head gasket seal job. Good luck. Rich and Annemarie 85 GL "Buba" 98 Bug
