Hi Volks: Today was my first crack ever at changing a fuel filter on my 84 Westy 1.9. Both Haynes and Bentley show the fuel filter inboard of a frame rail, near the front of the vehicle. On my Vanagon, the fuel filter and pump are inside a very large protective pan ( as large as the fuel tank, easily) - with at least 12 bolts. Said pan is not mentioned in the service manuals- is it "taken for granted" this pan is to be removed in order to get filter access? Is there any way to change said filter without removing the pan? Thanks in advance! Marshall Ruskin 84 Westy "Iron Igloo" Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Founding Member of "Vanagon's Anonymous" |
