Adam ---- I assume you are talking about the brush+regulator assembly that fits in one end-housing of the Bosch alternator... right? Is your problem that the brushes are worn down below the Bentley limit?? If the answers are yes and yes...... check www.carparts.com and order new brushes for ~$5; get a friend who knows how to solder to help you install them. I made a small wooden jig that makes this easy. Alternatively [no pun intended] you can buy the brush+regulator assembly from any Bosch dealer, who will need some numbers from your alternator. The 'rebuilders' sometimes play mix/match and you may or may not have the right part in there now, if you are dealing with an alternator that already has been rebuilt. The new, authentic Bosch part is nicely crafted and assembled with evident professionalism [mine came from Spain]. ============REF================== Date: Tue, 20 Jun 2000 04:51:05 -0400 From: Puzerewski <Puzerewski@email.msn.com> Subject: Alternator Brush Box Where can someone buy a new brushbox for a 81 vanagon?? My flaps does not have, RMMW does not have, and the number of the Bosch 90v alternator must have changed over the years. Any sugg? |
