Subject: High pressure A/C hose
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

In my quest for a properly functioning A/C I discovered that the high-pressure hose that runs from the back of the compressor to the dryer in the front wheelwell is leaking. How did I find it? I had to unbolt the compressor to install the waterpump (trust me, I had to) and when I ever so gently moved it to the left I heard the hiss of escaping R134A. I put the compressor back down and the leak stopped, but later I discovered that the system is empty. The leak is at the crimped area of the hose where the steel tube inserts into the crimped fitting around the rubber hose immediately behind the compressor.

Three questions: 1) Is it normal for the fitting to leak when disturbed like that? 2) If I need to replace it, what is the best way to do it. Would I get the fitting repaired or replace the line. 3) What is a good source for parts?

Sincerely,

Chris Stann
