Subject: flashing temp light when cool
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi Volks!

Sure is nice to have the list back. I missed having my daily Vanagon fix of 100+ messages. ; )

Since it looks like some people are still having coolant dilemmas, I thought that I would throw out my coolant/temp light weirdness too and see if anyone else has experienced anything similar.

My '84 Westy has a possessed temp light. It usually goes out shortly (@10 secs) after start-up. But every now and then, it decides to continue flashing until the needle is up to half way mark. It has never come back on later and the needle has not gone past one needles width past half way. The level in the over-fill tank is good, though I haven't popped the lid and check the expansion tank when the light stays flashing. I'm thinking air in the system. ??? If I check the expansion tank when the light is flashing, do you think that there will be some air space in there? Or maybe it's just a bad sensor ???? I thought that this problem was solved after I had the system flushed, bled and re-filled, but it came back after a few days. Any suggestions?

Peace - donna '84 Westy (Pepe)
