For what it is worth I just shipped a complete bus roof section, 12' 6" x 5' 6" x 21", 597# when crated, from Kansas City to Atlanta for less than $150...2nd day air nonetheless. Here is the deal: You have to crate it (the roof cost about $80 in materials and about 4 hours of work) and take it up to the terminal, the guy/gal on the receiving end has to pick it up at that terminal - no door to door service.

I used a company called Forward Air. They were great. I am sure there are others.
