Subject: Vanagon Addict / 86 Syncro (my 5th in 12 months)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Just bought my 5th Vanagon. Fortunately, I have two good friends who share my illness. I got rid of two and am now left with three.

Traded my wrecked and rusty 86 Syncro Westy Weekender with the bad trans for a good running and hard-charging 85 GL plus some cash. Weeks later, that selfsame 85 GL made it's way to the hands of another friend.

With that cash I bought an 86 Syncro from fellow listee Stan from Campbell, California. When Stan posted his van for sale on the list, I expected it to be a POS. It took him awhile to even allow me to see the van.

As it turns out, the van was the complete opposite. It had 69,653 original miles all from Stan. He's the original owner. It looked so good and drove so well that I was embarrassed that I even thought about asking him to take less money. I gave him the full amount. $3000.

This was not a sale but a gift. The price of a trans rebuild with labor to install.

Thanks, Stan. And thanks to the LIST for the introduction.
