Subject: FS: 1986 Vanagon Syncro

The following Vanagon Syncro is up for sale by an acquaintance nearby. I have personally inspected the van last Thursday and have found the following information. If you are interested or have any further questions which I may be able to answer please contact me. I am acting as the sales agent for this vehicle so you will be dealing with me until sale time. The asking price is $2500 CND. 1986 Vanagon Syncro window van. 4cyl. water-cooled boxer 2.1 litre engine, 5-speed manual transmission (w/o diff. lock) and large sun roof. For restoration or parts. Needs much work but is solid enough to restore. Van is driveable as it is. Motor is running well with no oil or water leaks. Compression has not been checked. 54,423 showing on the clock. Needs heat shields, complete exhaust system, most hoses and water pipes replaced and most likely a good tune-up. Transmission seems to work well in all gears, syncro system is in working order. May need one rear CV joint. May need suspension work. Definitely needs brake work but not sure how extensive. Tires are fair but will need replacement soon. Interior - two front bucket seats with good upholstery, rear middle bench seat in good condition but not originally from this van so the color is not correct, door panels and wall panels all need replaced. Body - large dent in left rear portion of the roof where a tree fell on the van (this dent interferes with the operation of the sunroof), seam rust on most of the body panel seams, rust showing around many of the window mouldings (none of these rust spots are showing penetration), right rear rocker behind sliding door rusted through, numerous small dings and dents all over, paint is badly faded, front bumper is fair, rear bumper need replaced (rusted through), sliding door exterior handle broken, sliding door hard to slide (roller bearing needs replaced), all window glass intact except for small stone chip in windshield on the drivers side, standard door rear view mirrors are good, all lighting is good and working. Heating - front heater fan motor needs replaced, rear heater working.

Cheers
