My '86 is suffering from an erratic cold idle. Shortly after starting the van the idle begins to alternately falter then stabilize repeatedly often stalling unless I intervene with the accelerator. This will continue until I get out on the road. On several occasions it has continued even after getting on the road and I have been unable to accelerate until I pull over and shut the van off then restart it. I know there has been some discussion in the past of the idle stabilizer control unit but I could not find it in the archives.... other than the most recent instruction to replace one of the internal components. My recollection is that there was a procedure for testing the unit. Can anyone help? I do know that my idle stabilizer valve is humming as it should... so that is working. What does one of these cost new? Bus Depot, VanAgain? Eric Small So.Portland, Maine '86 GL Weekender |
