I tried to order four MXT's from Costco this morning. They had the Michelin rep on the phone, and I was told that I will have to wait until at least mid-August for another production run of MXT's to occur. Michelin is currently out of them. Apparently, specialized tires like this are produced only periodically by the factory. So, it appears to be no problem to have Costco order them, and their price is the best I've found so far, but I will have to bide my time until they are available again. My current tires are not worn out, just wrong for the van. Specs on my current tires are: General Ameri 400 steel belted radials, 205-70R14, Load rating of 1450lbs max, 1 polyester ply sidewall. I think they belong on a Ford Escort or something. I know I'm tempting fate with these tires, but I want to wait and get the right ones. All conventional wisdom and most anecdotal evidence on this list suggests that the Michelin MXT's are the way to go for optimum handling and performance. Plus, some say I will feel happier about life in general with these tires, so I'm holding out for them. Dan |
