Greetings! Postponed my jaunt to SF Bay Area until winter weather abates. Meanwhile, stopped in my local auto shop for a routine squealing fan belt. Seems a vacuum hose had come completely free. Richard tightened the fan belt, reconnected the hose, then apparantly "fixed" my wild surging@idle trouble with a mere turn of the screw. The whole event took 10 minutes and cost $12.50!!! It's the first time she's run right since my old mechanic installed a new air flow meter...If all of this sounds OK, I can move on to the next matter, getting the coolant flushed and new thermostat installed (&maybe all new hoses). The champagne's on ice. Is it too soon to celebrate? Phaedra '85 Westy-Wolf "Hester" |
