Subject: Help: '86 with erratic cold idle
Comments: To: FrankGRUN@aol.com
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

My '86 is suffering from an erratic cold idle. Shortly after starting the van the idle begins to alternately falter then stabilize repeatedly often stalling unless I intervene with the accelerator. This will continue until I get out on the road. On several occasions it has continued even after getting on the road and I have been unable to accelerate until I pull over and shut the van off then restart it.

I know there has been some discussion in the past of the idle stabilizer control unit but I could not find it in the archives.... other than the most recent instruction to replace one of the internal components. My recollection is that there was a procedure for testing the unit. Can anyone help?

I do know that my idle stabilizer valve is humming as it should... so that is working.

What does one of these cost new? Bus Depot, VanAgain?
