I have the book Brad recommends and it does a pretty good job of explaining the basic design concepts and elements of the various Bosch systems. It includes diagrams and pictures of the actual components with the narrative. It's a good resource if you aren't sure what type of FI you have or if you need help in identifying the various parts and their purpose. You also get to read about Bosch systems used on a wide variety of cars, including CIS and Motronic.

I purchased this book when I acquired my Porsche 914, which uses Bosch D-Jetronic, a manifold pressure-sensing system used in the late 60's and early 70's. With this book, I am better able to sort out possible FI problems on my 914, '82 Adventurewagen (L-Jet) and '87 Westfalia (Digifant).
