John, Volks, I did the same (equipment changes) and went from R-12 to R134a and on the day of installation it was 92F outside blowing 47F at the front most vent on the air tube. R-134a -truly- is the best gas to sub for R-12. Idling or going down the freeway, it's really cold inside, -really- hot outside. It is routinely over 100F daily presently and the Carats interior in the heat of the say is so cold, my wife carries blankets for our 10 month old! And my two young boys complain of the cold!
