No disagreement there. I don't drive it. The 81 Westy sits in my
driveway waiting for me to:
1.) Find the time or money to fix it.
2.) Find someone else who will let it sit in their driveway and fix/not
fix it.
3.) Take it to the junkyard and get my 500 bucks for it.

That decision is coming up soon as I have to move by the end of August.
I suspect #1 isn't going to happen.
I suspect #2 is real remote.
So what do you think I will do with it.

BTW - I do maintain my 84 as well as my 92 Toyota (my daily drivers). I
don't think you can accuse me of disposable car syndrome.

Who builds a better automobile, VW or Toyota? It ain't even close.

As far as the rest of your over simplification, I suspect your life is
quite perfect. Congratulations. Most of us don't live in Brigadoon.
