<soapbox> aright, i just got back into town from good ole psu, and saw that a debate had taken place over the engine swap/mpg issue. here is my take: if you do the conversion yourself, and have 2gs lying around, get the conversion done. if you don't do the conversion yourself and have 8-9gs lying around get the conversion done. if you're like me and got a loan out for about 10gs and it just covered the conversion(i didn't do it myself for lack of mechanical experience at the time)..do something else.
for the mpg issue, you won't get more mpg out of any other engine unless you are running a gas/electric hybrid with a 3cyl geo metro engine and a rack of batteries. oh yeah, i was getting around 15mpg with my v-6 comversion(built for power not economy) before the tranny went out. </soapbox> imnsho= in my not so humble opinion ===== Sudhir Desai desa4622@kettering.edu desa4622@yahoo.com 1984 Vanagon Z34 & 1996 Jetta Trek icq# 17014903 AOL & yahoopager: rawsuds __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
