Kevin, If you doubt the power of these VW lists, consider this. One of the members of the Eurovan list suffered an engine fire due to a fuel leak caused by joint in the fuel line residing above the distributor. VWoA denied there was a problem. This member posted the story of the fire as well as VW's response to the Eurovan list (a sister list to the Vanagon list). The folks on the EV list mobilized and contacted NHTSA "en mass". Guess what....this group's action was enough to get NHTSA to force VW to recall the Eurovans (specifically the 93 models). Check NHTSA's web page or contact VW if you want to confirm the recall. We can, if necessary, "mobilize the troops" very effectively. Please do not underestimate the power of these internet VW groups.
